“The sweetest woman you ever want to meet,” Gladys Jenkins, passes.

Gladys Jenkins, passed on March 15, 2016. She was the last surviving child of Enoch and Katie Cole. She was buried in St. Louis next to her husband, Delbert Jenkins.

Poem By Gale Kelly, Niece

Aunt Gladys,

Not everyone can carry that name.

Not everyone can be called “Glad”.

She was always glad to see you.

You were always glad to see her.

She was always glad you came.

You were always glad you came.

She was always glad to hear from you.

You were always glad to hear from her.

She was always glad to feed you.

You were always glad she fed you.

Now this could become monotonous

And repetitious,

But when it comes to Aunt Gladys

it’s her life, her legacy; never, ever malicious.

She was always glad about “us”.

And “us” was always glad about her.

Aunt Gladys.

A great mother, aunt, grandmother,

sister, friend, nurturer, and cheerleader.

There was no one like Aunt Gladys.

Thanks for loving us.

We loved you back.
